Hisaab — money, together

Hisaab (Urdu for accounts or reckoning) is your joint money view: a monthly budget you set together, and a running ledger of what you actually spend. Both spouses see the same picture, so money stops being a guessing game.

Setting a budget

  1. Open Hisaab from the More tab.
  2. Go to the budget for the current month.
  3. Add categories (groceries, rent, eating out, travel…) and set a planned amount for each.
  4. Save. The budget carries the month it belongs to, so you can adjust it month to month.

Recording expenses

As money goes out, add an expense: an amount, a category, and an optional note. Each entry lands in the shared ledger immediately, so both of you always see the latest total — whoever paid, whoever logged it.

Seeing where it went

Hisaab rolls your expenses up against your budget so you can see, at a glance, how much is left in each category and overall for the month. There's an analytics view that breaks spending down visually, so the month's shape is easy to read.

Currency

Hisaab uses your couple's currency setting (Settings → Currency) everywhere — there's no hardcoded symbol. Change it once and it updates across Hisaab, Apna Ghar and Assets.

Editing past months

You can look back at previous months' budgets and ledgers. To keep history honest, a finalised month's budget can be locked from accidental edits — useful once a month is closed and you don't want the numbers shifting underneath you.

Hisaab vs Apna Ghar vs Assets

  • Hisaab → month-to-month income and spending.
  • Apna Ghar → one specific savings goal you're building toward.
  • Assets → your overall net worth, plus Zakat.
